I feel great, but I'm sick. I am sick of the attitude, sick of the feeling like just because everything is not going the way I want it, there is no hope. I'm sick of the blame game. I'm sick of the Celtics. Why in the world do they come out and smoke a team twice, make us think they will run away with the series, and then, when they need to win the most, crawl into the Ted Williams Tunnel and don't come out the entire game 7. Congrats Larry and your Pacers. We need someone like you to teach this team how to win.

Red Sox Notes: The Red Sox have taken the first game of the day 6-3. Such is the case for both the Celtics and the Red Sox this weekend, as suspensions were handed out as results of the fights/arguements in the Celtics vs. Pacers series, and the Red Sox vs. Devil Rays "Lou Pinella is a crazy guy" battle of the bean ball (I don't really think Lou is crazy. I actually like him, he talked to me once when I was at a Red Sox vs. Mariners game. He addressed me...it was surreal). For the Celtics, Antoine Walker was suspended 1 game for "removing" the referree from his "no wake zone". After being awarded his 2nd technical foul of the night, Walker exploded and pushed one ref away to get to the other. Paul Pierce and the Celtic corp trounced Indiana by 31 with an incredible, emotional victory, which takes back their homecourt advantage (games 5 and 7 are in Boston)

As for the Red Sox, Trot Nixon (1 game), Bronson Arroyo (6 games, A.K.A. 1 start) , and Terry Francona (3 games) were each suspended for their altercation in the bench clearer in Tampa Bay. Despite a tough week, after hearing of the suspensions, Nixon and Arroyo each had their part in taking 2 of 3 from the Texas Rangers. Arroyo had an incredible start on Saturday, and Nixon hit well to put the Red Sox in 2nd place in the AL East to start May.

Thats About It.

Until Next time

It. There is a lot to be frustrated about right now. Not only are our supposed number 1 and 2 starting pitchers heading to the Disabled List (Schilling with bone bruise above spot he had surgery on, Wells with a sprained right foot), but we our also having problems relying on our bullpen. Keith Foulke has not pitched the way we know he can. However, I am not entirely worried. He is always a slow starter. He relies on the fastball and changeup to get batters out, and with the way closers are used in spring training, he sometimes has to just get used to his pitches in the regular season. Now if Kevin Millar would start hitting...

Celtics News:
Tonight is the 3rd game of the best of 7 series between the Celtics and the Indiana Pacers. With the series tied 1-1, the C's are looking to come out strong and regain their homecourt advantage. The game starts at 8:30 Eastern, and will be played in Indiana. Look for the Celtics to try to utilize Al Jefferson and Marcus Banks (Gary Payton continually gets beat on the high picks) a little more tonight (like the first game).

Patriots News:
Troy Brown and Ty Law still do not have a place to play. Here's to hoping something happens to at least bring one of them back to New England. Saturday and Sunday was the 2005 NFL Draft, and the Patriots really did not impress or disappoint. Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick gave us Pats fans an overall boring day, picking people that will work very well with the NE system, but no big names. I have been busy lately...Mostly college stuff. It is a hectic time, but I have made my decision. Anyways... The Red Sox are playing OK. Not stellar, but not like the Yankees either (haha). Celtics are 1-1 against the Indiana Pacers; and the N.E. Patriots had another boring draft which results in just what we need to win another championship. I am in a rush, but I wanted to post something. Though I never wanted the offseason to really end -- hoping to hold onto that championship forever -- I know that it is time to move on. And today was a great day to do so. For 9 innings, the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins battled it out in Boston's first spring training game of the season. Matt Clement started for the Red Sox, and gave up 1 run in his 2 innings of work, and the Red Sox gave up a total of 3 runs combined, but that was not enough to keep the Red Sox from winning. Kevin Youkilis helped contribute with a bases loaded single to score Jason Varitek to break the 1-1 tie, and Shawn Wooten homered in the 8th to put the sox up 4-1. The Twins scored 2 in the ninth (one unearned), but they were mearly just "fun runs" (okay I just made that term up, but it sounds pretty catchy).

One note before I go: Nomar Garciaparra was 1-1 in his first spring training game as a Chicago Cub. Nomar looked good in his first appearance; singling to right in his first at bat, then turning a nifty double play with Todd "Mr. Clutch 2003" Walker. But in his second trip to the dish, Nomar was plunked...guess where...yup, the wrist. He was taken out for a pinch runner, but said he is fine and that his wrist can sustain a bruise or two.

Alright. That is all for me tonight. New England sports fans have already parted ways with many favorites from the Boston Red Sox, and wished the graduating classes from UConn well; but as of tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2, 2005, the fans will have to say good bye to some of their New England Patriots friends, as free agency officially begins. The Patriots, a few days after reporting that they were releasing Pro-Bowl CB Ty Law, reported that they would be releasing veteran LB Roman Phifer, and would not be picking up the option for 2005 on WR/CB Troy Brown's contract, making him an unrestricted free agent. Personally, I will miss both of these guys. They were great Patriots, and they carry themselves so well on and off the field. Hopefully there will be some way for them to return for less money or another situation which could have them end their careers as Patriots.

Nothing much is happening on the Red Sox front. They will be playing their first spring training game in a little over 2 days!

Though the Celtics traded Gary Payton for Antoine Walker, it appears he will be returning to the Celtics, and might be suited up as early as the game Wednesday against the L.A. Lakers. The Hawks bought him out, which put him back on the market. Okay so the man is not that wise; after all, he is Vin Diesel...but I guess the saying applies here. The Boston Celtics became the first team from the east to win in Pheonix, last night in a 120-113 defeat of the Suns. Antoine "I'm happy to be back in Boston" Walker put up 32 shots, and though he did not make most of them, he still came up with 33 points and 13 rebounds to put the C's on top.

Nothing new from the Sox, other than Kevin Millar has reportedly been talking with the producers of Cable Station "Bravo" about an appearance on "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy". Millar would get his style changed, while they also renovated a little league field which was destroyed by the hurricanes.

I have been up since 4:45 AM, and I will be continuing this pattern for the next 3 days! It is not the Real Slim Shady! (lame music joke) Today, February 24; marked a day of returns for both The Defending World Champion Boston Red Sox...as well as the Atlantic Division's 1st place team, the Boston Celtics.

For the Boston Red Sox; for the first time since Game 2 of the 2004 World Series, Curt Schilling threw off of a mound. His modest self proclaimed that he was not sure he would be ready for opening day, but he would rather take his time and make the starts in October that really count, as opposed to starting opening day but hurting himself as a result of rushing things. As a Red Sox fan, I know that Curt Schilling is one of the hardest working, most intense pitchers in the game, and he will be doing everything he can to make that first start.

As for the Celtics, me being one of the 12 NBA fans still in existance (Bill Simmons should add me to his list), the man who wore #8 before rookie Al Jefferson will be exchanging his Atlanta Red and Gold for Some Celtic Green. Yes, Antoine Walker will be returning to the Boston Celtics, where he played the first 7 years of his NBA career. In exchange for Walker and some cash, the Celtics gave up Gary "The Glove That Doesn't Seem To Fit All Too Well" Payton, Tom Gugliotta, Michael Stewart, and a first round draft pick in either the 2005 or 2006 NBA draft. All in all, a great trade for the C's. Walker is back where he wants to be, Payton is gone (I like him, but he just doesn't seem interested...plus he has lost a step), and Paul Pierce has his friend back. Now about Jefferson giving Walker #8 back...

Just a little side note--Curt Schilling said he wasn't very pleased with his pitching off the mound. His 47 pitches were not of his best quality, but isn't that expected when you are throwing off a mound for the first time in 5 months?

That is all for me I guess...I actually have to finish up an application. Oh Well. Until next time....

It. Is. It is February 22, 2005 and All players have reported to Fort Meyers, Florida for the 2005 Defending World Champion Boston Red Sox spring training! Yes my friends, spring is in the air, and so is updates on this blog. Now that the boring part has come and gone, I will be updating regularly. I also plan on making some sort of radio show, whether or not I speak about my teams I'm not sure, but we'll see when I get there. But this will change. I am going to start devoting this blog to a more everyday style theme rather than the red sox. I will surely post everything i can about the 2004 World Series Champions (pinch me...thanks...wait...i wasn't dreaming). for example: I personally believe that things are looking good in the Pedro and 'Tek situations right now. this is what I think, not what others think, but we will see. Ok. For starters. SAT II are not fun. Also, proctors are named that because of proctologists. I swear. they are always anal. Ok it is 12:35 right now and I am tired. But I will check in again real soon. I'm working on some guitar stuff right now. oh ya, anyone who reads these...leave some comments. I have been busy with college apps and stuff like that. Oh the life of a High School Senior. Okay, just to let everyone know, Gabe Kapler, the "backup" right fielder for the 2004 Boston Red Sox, has just signed a deal with Yomiuri Giants in Japan. Reportedly, it is a 1 year, $2 million contract. You can read the story here. I hope I can speak for all of us in saying that Gabe will be missed in Boston. If there was one member of the 2004 Sox that I could help me in a fight, it would be him. Good luck #19.

Congratulations to the #1 team in the World, and #1 team in our hearts. We did it folks, we held our ground, held the line, we stuck with them through thick and thin. We showed how true fans and teams prevail. When Foulke underhanded that ball to Eyechart, and as soon as I realized he caught the ball, I didn't know what to do. I ran around the house, I did a headfirst slide across my house, then I fell down and fell apart. My body was numb, too weak to support me. Tears were trying to leak through. It was a miracle, but I knew it was going to happen. I had never been so sure of a Red Sox team before. Who would have thought that a team that got rid of a future HoF SS, went down 0-3 to the New York Yankees, and had a 28" man as their mascot would win the World Series? 1918 is no more. In fact, from now on, all it is is 6 years after the Titanic, 11 years before the Great Depression, 1 year after the White Sox won the world series, 10 years after the Cubs won the world series. The only thing associated with 1918 from a Red Sox standpoint is that they won the WS in that year. 1919-2003 are nothing. I can't remember them. And the best part is....I don't have to. It took me almost a full day to type this, I didn't know what to write. I could have talked about how great it was to win a world series, how cool it is to celebrate such an accomplishment, talk about FAs or other baseball stuff, but I really just wanted to say one thing. It's been 86 years of complaining, wishing and hoping (that maybe just once those doors weren't locked ;) ), heartbreak, sadness, etc. Now we are the current champions. So what do we do now?

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2004 BOSTON RED SOX ON THEIR FIRST WORLD SERIES IN 86 YEARS!!!!!!!

SOX IN '05!!! They made up for the errors. Everything we have worked for during the last 12 months comes down to 1 more win. 3-0. We have seen this situation before. The only difference is we don't have teammates making arrogant comments which helps beat their own team into the ground (Thanks Gary, and a special thanks to Pedro for pointing it out. (Re-sign him ahora Theo)). I can't say anything more. This team is special. I might be jumping the gun here, but I have never been more proud of a Red Sox team in my life. I don't care if we lose the next 3. I just want to see one more win. One more. Chet Stedman style baby. One more. Keep the Faith RSN.

It.
Is.
On.

~Ryan

A win is a win is a win

Well...It was sloppy. We gave up a 5 run lead, made 4 errors, and had the lead on 3 separate occasions, but in the end, we pulled it off. Wow! Being up 1-0 is much better than down 0-3 huh? First I would like to address the defense issue. The first two errors were throwing errors...They happen, Arroyo made one because he tried to do too much, and Millar's was because he also tried to do too much, while not thinking clearly. I personally felt bad for Manny. His face after the 2nd error summed up how everyone felt. He looked like he wanted to shoot himself. People say Manny doesn't pay attention, Manny doesn't have a care in the world, etc. but Manny doesn't want to be the reason his team loses. I expect him to have a huge series from now on (his 2 RBI helped last night though). We cannot ease off. We must win tonight. One game at a time. Can you believe that our Red Sox are 1-0 in the WS? I can't, but I don't enjoy it as much as I will when we go 2-0. C'mon boys. Fire'em up! Keep the Faith and most importantly....
It.
Is.
On.

~Ryan

History (part II)

What day is it? Friday? Saturday? Thriday? I have no idea. I have slept for the last 2 days. I am so mental, phsyically, and emotionally exhausted that I have no reason to get up....except one (The Sox won the ALCS!) Shhh...don't say anything, we don't want any Yankee fans to get jealous do we??? Oh wait, yes we do...HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
I actually want to thank the Yankees for the largest colapse of all time. And thanks to A-Rod, I now have a new catch phrase. If somebody leans over to change your radio station in the car when you are driving, calmly say "Touch that dial, and I pull an A-Rod on you." They won't know what hit them, well, until you slap them in their forearm and then put your hands in the air saying "What did I do?" Okay enough Yankee bashing.
The Sox put together an amazing streak that does not end quite yet. Yes I am scared. No I am not doubting the team. Yes I think the St. Louis Cardinals are the best team on paper. No I don't think they will win the WS. Yes it was a fender-bender. No it....wait...sorry, I just saw it on TV. I am in Maine right now. I get to watch game 1 in New England. I hate being in Illinois, getting all pscyhed about the wins, then no one saying anything to me other than the latest dillema the cubs are having. Alright, anyways, here are my keys to the game.

1: Win
2: Keep up the intensity. If they are the Yankees, we don't need to worry. But they aren't, so keep it up. (I don't think they will have a problem with this)
3: Mute Tim McCarver every time you hear him breathe.
4: Pedro must perform ('nuff said)
5: Schilling will end up being asked to perform a 2nd miracle. I understand that Jesus is on our team in the form of Johnny Damon, but we need to realize that all we need from Schilling is 6 innings of 2 run ball and that will be as good as a miracle.
6: Win
7: Keep our celebrations to a minimum. This needs to be addressed. I'm not talking about the real fans, I'm talking about the college kids who are rioting. A tragic death occurred because of this. We don't need this. Plus you end up getting the Boston Herald being idiotic (not the same as the Sox, the bad type) and putting terrible pictures on the front cover and page 4. We need the Sox players to make some PSAs about this.
8: We need Manny to step up, Ortiz to play some D, and Damon to bring ALCS game 7 into the entire WS.

We will win, don't worry, it's in the cards. Good luck Sox. Keep the Faith. And before I forget
It.
Is.
On.
World Series style baby.

~Ryan

p.s. read Bill Simmons' collumns. bostonsportsguy.com

History Made (part 1)

Well folks, if you haven't been on board this year, you might as well grab hold now. The Sox made history tonight by being the first team in ML history to come back from a 3-0 deficit to force a 7th game. But last time I checked, you don't win a series when you are tied 3-3. The Sox have a larger goal in mind, 2 to be exact. They need to create history again by becoming the first team to come back from 3-0 down to win a series, and they want to win the WS. Number 2 is not important right now. One game at a time. Derek Lowe will again prove himself. Do it DLowe. Keep the Faith guys, it is time for us to show why Boston is the #1 sports city in the World. Keep the Faith
Why Not Us?
It.
Is.
On.

~Ryan

p.s. if you haven't read any of Bill Simmons' collumns, start. www.bostonsportsguy.com

Last Year Revisited

Well, David "Papi" Ortiz obviously wants it. Keith Foulke obviously wants it. Tim Wakefield obviously wants it. And Curt Schilling is going out there with a destroyed ankle just so he can shut up 55,000 people at once. He sure as hell wants it. Now is the time for the guys like Johnny Damon, Mark Bellhorn, and Manny Ramirez to step up and perform as they are used to. I know they will. We are going to make history, we will. This is not a fantasy, it is a reality. When Curt Schilling steps off that mound to end the game tonight with his finger over his mouth, New York is going to shut both their mouths and their wallets. Here we go Boston. I want to taste some more dirty water. The Sox took me in, they took the lead, then the brought in the imbedded Yankee to give up a gazillion runs. Awesome. But last time I checked -- now -- you have to win 4 games to advance, and the yankees haven't done that yet have they? Nope. Sure "Saturn Balls" didn't have his stuff, nor the rest of the Red Sox pitching staff. Sure the Sox gave up 19 runs. But we also scored 8. That means our bats are not broken. Just our arms. But have no fear. A guy who led us to victory in the 2003 playoffs is starting....Derek Lowe. No nicknames today. Just pure admiration. He will come through. Count on it. I am not going to worry about mojo. I do know however, that I am watching this game until the end. When they win, I will watch the next game til the end. If they lose, I will watch the game til the end and then probably throw something across the room, go to the remy report and SoSH and act depressed, then realize "Hey I'm a Red Sox fan, and we don't quit. There is always next year. What if I was a Cubs fan? They have many more problems than we do." Then I will get all stressed out about what the Sox will do in the offseason. But that doesn't come until we lose. And we haven't yet. So man your battlestations folks. This one comes down to the wire. IT IS STILL ON

Saturn wants a ring

This should be the headline for tomorrow morning. No doubt Bronson "Saturn" Arroyo will dominate the Yankees tonight. He has the mojo going for him. And the off day helped the Sox greatly. I'm not scurrrrred. I am however disappointed with the way some sox fans are treating Mariano Rivera and his personal tragedy. Don't bring that into play guys. I am as big a Sox fan as any of you, perhaps I am not as old, but I know class, and that is not class. Don't stoop there. But I know these are jokes, so I don't expect any problems out of anyone other than some drunk guys in the bleachers at the pahk. I'm psyched. Not only did they almost blow a 14 K, 8 innings of shutout, 3 hit ball by Curt Schilling, but they almost lost their 4th straight....luckily, Mark Bellhorn came through in the 9th. So tomorrow I have a day long field trip where I go to Chicago for the whole day. It is probably the best type of field trip because I don't have to worry about school at all.
So I have a great chemistry joke for everyone....some girl said it today in one of my classes and it was great because our teacher told her that there weren't any good science jokes....So this girl walks into her classroom in a panic. She walks to the teacher and says....Mr./Mrs. ____...I've lost all my electrons, what do I do. The teacher replied "are you sure". "Yes, I'm positive" replied the girl. Okay so that wasn't a great joke, but i needed to put something in here. Alright goodnight L.A. Peace.

Quote of the Day: "What's the matter Harry? Some little filly break your heart?" I guess I might as well tell everyone a little about myself considering this is my first post. I live in Illinois, not by choice, but because I had to move after 14 years in Connecticut. Good place....I am a huge baseball fan. I play it, eat, sleep, drink it, all that stuff. It is my life. I don't go a day without obsessing over it. I am a huge New England sports fan. My favorite pro teams are the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, etc. as far as I know, I am the biggest fan of those teams in Illinois. No one rivals me.

I am currently learning how to play the guitar. Great instrument, but it is kinda hard. I usually go to mxtabs.net and learn tabs of my favorite songs, but I also take lessons which is pretty sweet. This is the first time I have enjoyed lessons for an instrument. My favorite band is the Counting Crows. They are amazing. If you want to know more about them then go to these websites. www.countingcrows.com and www.annabegins.com (both are great). I think I have about 20 live shows on my computer and I want more.

One other thing about me is that I am pretty good with computers. I am going to major in computer science when I go to college next fall. I'm a senior in high school right now, and even though we are only about 4 weeks in, I have a major case of "senioritis". Good for me. I can't stand school because of how long it is. Plus I have to wake up early every day. Ok so I guess that is all for me. Come back and enjoy because I will have a lot of everything on this website. Peace

Quote of the day:

"What are you drawing Napoleon?"
